OF THE WEEK

Murder
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred during
the hours of Thursday, July 22nd 2010 around 7 p.m., through Friday
morning, July 23rd around 7 a.m. According to Huntsville Police,
the victim, Dr. Herbert Gray was found dead by an employee coming
into work that morning just past 8 a.m. at 102 Lowry St. (Graytronix).
The victims vehicle was later located in another part of town. |

Burglary
|
|
Our Crime for this week occurred on
Thursday, May 20th 2010 at 3001 11th Avenue (Prozone Pool Products)
here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered
the business through a side garage door. Once inside, the offender
stole hundreds of dollars worth of computer equipment.
Surveillance video captured the offender.
He is described as a B/M, striped shirt, khaki trousers, black
baseball cap worn backwards.

Attempted Murder
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred on Friday,
April 23rd 2010 at 3782 University Drive (Poker de Ases) here in
town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim was in the club
when he accidentally stepped on another guys shoes and words were
exchanged. Moments later, the victim left the club and was shot
multiple times by an unknown offender. Many people were in the area
at the time of the shooting.
The shooter was described as being a
B/M, dressed in all black.

Theft of Property
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred on Friday,
April 2nd 2010 at 100 Ivory Place in Madison (Zaxbys). According
to Madison Police, 2 B/M offenders came into the store and placed
an order. At this time, one of the offenders paid for the meal and
began switching money with the clerk until the store
had lost several hundred dollars. One of the offenders kept the
attention of the manager while his partner continued tricking the
clerk by switching money.
Both offenders are B/Ms, heavy
set, approximately mid to late 40s. There were seen on store
surveillance.

Armed Robbery
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred on Tuesday,
March 16th, 2010 at 6150 University Drive (Minit Man Store) here
in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offenders entered the
business and brandished a black handgun and pointed it at the clerk,
demanding the cash. The two offenders then ran from the store with
the money. The same described offenders robbed the same location
on Friday, March 26th 2010.
The offenders were seen on store surveillance.
Both were said to be B/Ms. One appeared approximately 6
tall, dressed in all black with a white bandana over his face.
The second offender appeared to be around 56 wearing
similar clothing.

Theft of Property
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday,
January 23rd, 2010 at 6140 University Drive (Wal-Mart) here in town.
According to Huntsville Police, the offender pulled his vehicle
in front of the store and parked, leaving his flashers on. He then
went inside the store with a dolly, removing the Childrens
Miracle Network donation canister. He also did the exact same
thing about a week later at the Wal-Mart in Hampton Cove.
The offender appears to be a W/M, appearing
to be in his mid to late 30s. He was driving a Blue Nissan
Pathfinder with a stolen vehicle tag.

Theft/Forgery/Fraudulent
Use of A Credit Card

|
Our Crime for this week occurred on
Tuesday, January 12th 2010 at 100 Oak Brook Drive in Madison.
According to Madison Police, someone entered the victims vehicle
taking credit cards, cell phone and money. Shortly thereafter,
the offender was writing checks and cashing them at the Kroger,
located at 300 Hughes Road. The offender is seen on store surveillance
and described as a B/M, wearing a black shirt while he is cashing
one of the checks and a red shirt as he is cashing another.
Madison PD also reported a victim having
his credit card stolen just a day later. This offender also went
directly to Kroger on Hughes Road and purchased gift cards totaling
several hundred dollars. This offender was also seen on store
surveillance and described as a W/M, wearing a hat and jacket.

| Our crime
for this week occurred on Friday, January 8th 2010 at 8760 Madison
Blvd (Brocks Jewelers) in Madison. According to Madison Police,
(2) offenders broke in through the front door. Once inside, jewelry
cases were smashed and several thousand dollars worth of jewelry
was taken.
The offenders were dressed in dark clothing
and completely covered from head to toe. Both are seen on store
surveillance.

The Case of the
Vanishing Computer

| Our crime for this week occurred on Friday,
December 11th, 2009 at 5850 University Drive (Office Depot) here
in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offenders entered the
store and went to the back of the store and pried open the store
room door. At this point, they took several lap top computers and
left the store. The offenders are seen on store surveillance.
The offenders appear to be 2 black males,
mid to late 20s.

Theft of Property/Illegal
Possession of Credit Card

| Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday,
November 22nd 2009. Apparently while attending church, the victim
had credit cards stolen from her purse belonging to her and her
mother. The cards were immediately used at various places, i.e.
The Apple Store, Best Buy, Target for thousands of dollars in purchases.
The offenders were seen on video surveillance at all the locations
using the stolen credit cards.
The offenders appear to be a W/F and
W/M, well dressed, both appearing to be in their mid to late 40s.

Pick Pocket Picks
up $2,500
|
|
Our crime for this week occurred on
Friday, October 9th, 2009 at 1395 Enterprise Way (Jasons
Deli) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim
was entering the business to eat lunch. She was bumped
into and a short time later, her wallet was missing from her purse.
Shortly thereafter, her credit cards was being used to purchase
hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards from Wal-Mart and a $2,500
dollar advance on a credit card from a local bank.
The offender was seen on video surveillance
at Wal-Mart and CB&S Bank committing the crimes. She was described
as a black female, average weight, wearing a black and white print
shirt and black pants.

Fake
Checks Folly
|
|
Our crime for this week occurred on
Wednesday, July 29th 2009 at 12070 County Line Road (Publix) in
Madison. According to Madison Police Detectives the offenders
entered the business on two separate occasions using fake checks
to purchase gift cards and electronics. Both offenders presented
different IDs at different times to make the purchases.
The offenders were seen on video surveillance.

Arsenist Targets
Bathroom Not Once, But Twice
|
|
Our crime for this week occurred on
Tuesday, February 3rd 2009 at 1100 Mountain Gap Road (Ken Johnston
Park) here in town. According to Huntsville Fire Investigators
someone started a small fire in the bathroom area by setting fire
to the paper towel holder. It was extinguished but not before
causing smoke damage. On February 14th 2009 a second fire was
set at this same location causing more damage to the bathroom.

Murder
|
|
Our crime for this week occurred during
the weekend of Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th
2007 at 4440 Bonnell Drive, Apt A here in town. According to Huntsville
Police, the victim (Kenneth Lee McClendon) was found inside his
apartment dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Investigators
need to speak with anyone that may have seen or heard during these
times.

Sexual Assault
|
|
Our crime for this week occurred on
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007 at the intersection of Bermuda
Road and Azalea Road here in town. According to Huntsville Police,
the victim was walking down the street at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Around 8:10, she heard a vehicle approaching her. Moments later,
she heard a car door shut and turned to see an offender running
towards her. At this time, the offender grabbed her and starting
groping her and speaking in her ear. After struggling with the
offender for a minute or two, she stabbed the offender with a
“throwing star” in the left bicep area and the upper thigh/side
area. At this point, the offender released her and ran back to
his car and left the area. The offender was described as a white
male, slender build in his mid 20’s, around 5’10” to 6’ in height
with very short dark hair. He was possibly driving a 1992-1995
Gold Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Murder
|
| OurcCrime for this week occurred on Friday,
January 5th, 2007 at 2523 Bronco Circle (Better Days Barber Shop)
here in town. According to Huntsville Police, officers were dispatched
to a shooting call at the listed location. Upon arrival, the body
of Christopher Brandon Byrd was located lying in a ditch behind
the barber shop. He had died from multiple gunshot wounds. The Major
Crimes Unit is hoping someone will come forward and shed light on
this tragic incident. |
