Armed Robbery
|
|
Our Crime for this week occurred on
Monday, March 23rd 2009 at 1628 Pulaski Pike, Suite A (Checks
and More) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the store
manager had just opened the store when he was followed inside.
Once inside, the offender pulled a handgun on the victim demanding
the safe to be opened. Once the victim opened the safe, the offender
took the money and told the victim to lay down on the floor and
keep your head down. The offender immediately left the business
with the money stuffed inside a trash bag.
The offender was seen on video surveillance.
He was described as a B/M, in his early to mid 20s, approximately
57 in height, weighing around 150 lbs. He was wearing
a white t-shirt, gray sweats and ballcap.

Theft of Property

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Friday, March 6th 2009 at 1641 Sparkman Drive (Cosmos Fitness
Center) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim
was working out inside the center. His wallet was taken from a locker.
Shortly thereafter, his credit card was being used at the Wal-Mart
on Sparkman Drive.
The offender appears to be a B/F, wearing
a red pullover.

Our Crime for this week occurred sometime
between February 9th and mid morning February 10th 2009. Huntsville
Police was called to the apartments located at 6240 Rime Village
Drive, Apt. 107 here in town. Inside the apartment, officers found
the victim, Gayland Maurice Steele, dead from an apparent homicide.

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Tuesday, February 3rd 2009 at 1100 Mountain Gap Road (Ken Johnston
Park) here in town. According to Huntsville Fire Investigators someone
started a small fire in the bathroom area by setting fire to the
paper towel holder. It was extinguished but not before causing smoke
damage. On February 14th 2009 a second fire was set at this same
location causing more damage to the bathroom. |

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on January 22nd 2009 in the Chattanooga area. The offender broke
into several vehicles at local churches. Various checks were stolen
from the vehicles and several checks were cashed in the Huntsville
area. The offender (W/F) appears to be changing her appearance as
she changes banks and may live in the Huntsville area.

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Tuesday, January 20th 2009 at 2600 Memorial Parkway (McDonalds)
here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim had placed
her cell phone in the cookie display while she prepared an order.
At this time, the offender ordered some food. When she turned to
get the food, the offender reached inside the cookie display and
took the phone. The incident was captured on store surveillance.
The offender appears to be a B/F, wearing
jeans, white shirt and jacket with fake fur around the collar.

Our Crime for this week occurred on
December 7th, 2008 at 2001 Drake Avenue (Cracker Barrel) here
in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim parked his
vehicle, upon leaving he discovered the window had been busted
out of his truck and various credit cards were taken from a purse
inside.
Shortly thereafter, a W/M and W/F are
seen on store surveillance using the stolen credit cards at Wal-Mart
and Kroger located at the intersection of the Parkway and Drake
Avenue.

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Tuesday, January 29th 2008 at 5033 Galaxy Way (Twickenham Village)
here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim and his
family were entering there residence. At this point, the offender
( B/M, 5’5”, 160 lbs) walked up behind them brandishing a small
handgun and demanded their property. The offender made the male
victim remove his shorts which contained his debit card. He then
fled the area. Shortly afterward, the debit card was used by a W/F
at Wal-Mart on University Drive. As the W/F was using the stolen
debit card, she was in the company of a W/M and B/M. Police would
like to identify and speak with any of these individuals. |

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Sunday, December 23rd 2007 at 1297 Slaughter Road (The Church
of Latter Day Saints) in Madison County. According to Madison County
Sheriffs’ Investigators the victim parked her vehicle and entered
the church. As she exited the church, her drivers door window had
been busted and her purse had been taken. Minutes later, an offender
was using her credit card at a local store. The offender was seen
on store surveillance. He appears to be a W/M, wearing jeans, brown
jacket and green ballcap. |

| Our Crime for this week occurred
during the weekend of Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December
9th 2007 at 4440 Bonnell Drive, Apt A here in town. According to
Huntsville Police, the victim (Kenneth Lee McClendon) was found
inside his apartment dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Investigators need to speak with anyone that may have seen or heard
during these times. |

Sexual Assault

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Wednesday, September 19th, 2007 at the intersection of Bermuda
Road and Azalea Road here in town. According to Huntsville Police,
the victim was walking down the street at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Around 8:10, she heard a vehicle approaching her. Moments later,
she heard a car door shut and turned to see an offender running
towards her. At this time, the offender grabbed her and starting
groping her and speaking in her ear. After struggling with the offender
for a minute or two, she stabbed the offender with a “throwing star”
in the left bicep area and the upper thigh/side area. At this point,
the offender released her and ran back to his car and left the area.
The offender was described as a W/M, slender build in his mid 20’s,
around 5’10” to 6’ in height with very short dark hair. He was possibly
driving a 1992-1995 Gold Oldsmobile Cutlass. |

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Saturday, June 23rd at 2222 Jordan Lane, Apt. C here in town.
According to Huntsville Police, the offending vehicle (2007 Maroon
Ford Focus) entered the apartment from the parking lot, pinning
a young victim underneath. The vehicle then backed out of the apartment
and left the area, northbound on Jordan Lane. The driver of the
vehicle was described as a B/M in his 20’s. The vehicle also had
a young, teenage passenger that started screaming at the driver,
“What have you done, let’s get out of here |

Robbery; 1st Degree
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 at 5004 Whitesburg Drive (Minute Man/Shell
Mart) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, 2 Hispanic males
entered the store to purchase a bottle of Gatorade. At this time,
one of the offenders brandished a handgun demanding money. After
getting the money from the register, he stuffed it down the front
of his trousers and both offenders left the store. The descriptions
also fit the offenders that robbed the High-Tech station at 8000
South Parkway, and the Conoco/Circle C station at 7546 South Parkway
recently. The offenders were seen on store surveillance with one
being 20-25 years of age, around 5’5”, weighing around 140 lbs.
The second offender appeared to be 20-25 years of age, around 5’2”,
weighing approximately 200 lbs. |

| Our Crime for this week occurred
on Friday, January 5th, 2007 at 2523 Bronco Circle (Better Days
Barber Shop) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, officers
were dispatched to a shooting call at the listed location. Upon
arrival, the body of Christopher Brandon Byrd was located lying
in a ditch behind the barber shop. He had died from multiple gunshot
wounds. The Major Crimes Unit is hoping someone will come forward
and shed light on this tragic incident. |

Death Investigation
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred
on or around October 25th, 2006 in the area of the Tennessee River
and Spring Creek in the Courtland, Alabama area. The body of a W/F,
Latauna Rena Jackson Tipton, was found floating in the river at
this location. She was found wearing no clothing except a sock and
some jewelry. The cause and manner of death at this time is “Undetermined |

Hit and Run
|
| Our Crime for this week occurred
in the evening hours of Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 here in Huntsville.
According to Police Investigators, the victim, Jerry Vanvoorhis
was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the parkway between Oakwood
Ave. and Arcadia Circle. The victim died of his injuries. The vehicle
continued and left the scene. A mirror from the offenders vehicle
was left at the scene. Investigators have determined the vehicle
to be a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, red or maroon in color. It
should be between the years of 1996-1999. The vehicle should have
had damage to the front/passenger side. |
