Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, December 23rd 2007 at 3115 Bob Wallace Avenue (CVS Pharmacy) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender walked into the store and waited until no one was behind the counter. He then went behind the counter and stole 3 cartons of cigarettes and fled the store. Store personnel chased the offender, who tripped and fell dropping the cigarettes, but continued on to a waiting truck and got away. Management advised this is the 3rd time this offender has done this act at other stores. The offender was seen on store surveillance. W/M, blue and black plaid jacket, Alabama sweatshirt, tan cap, gray pants.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Tuesday, January 29th 2008 at 5033 Galaxy Way (Twickenham Village) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim and his family were entering there residence. At this point, the offender ( B/M, 5’5”, 160 lbs) walked up behind them brandishing a small handgun and demanded their property. The offender made the male victim remove his shorts which contained his debit card. He then fled the area. Shortly afterward, the debit card was used by a W/F at Wal-Mart on University Drive. As the W/F was using the stolen debit card, she was in the company of a W/M and B/M. Police would like to identify and speak with any of these individuals.

Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred over the weekend of Saturday, November 10th 2007 thru Monday morning November 12th 2007 at 2425 Jordan Lane (next to Peoples Tires). According to Huntsville Police, the offender drove up into the parking lot and hooked up to a large trailer filled with tires. Once hooked up the offender drove off with the trailer. Surveillance of the lot shows a W/M, driving a red (possibly Dodge Dakota) taking the trailer

Murder

Our Crime for this week occurred during the weekend of Saturday, December 8th and Sunday, December 9th 2007 at 4440 Bonnell Drive, Apt A here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim (Kenneth Lee McClendon) was found inside his apartment dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Investigators need to speak with anyone that may have seen or heard during these times.

Criminal Possession of Forged Inst.

Our Crime for this week occurred on Wednesday, September 19th, 2007 at 2614 Governors Drive (Conoco) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the store trying to cash a stolen check from an earlier burglary. When the store attempted contact with the check owner, the offender left the store. The offender was seen on store surveillance. He was described as a B/M, around 5’9” in height, weighing around 160. He is seen wearing a black and white, striped ballcap. He is also wearing a MLB team logo jersey.

Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 at 1808 University Drive (Ryan’s Steakhouse). According to Huntsville Police, the offenders came into the restaurant and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill (discovered later) for a to-go order. After confusing the cashier about the change, money continued changing hands until the cashier had given the offenders back over $300 dollars. The offenders were described as 2 B/M’s and 1 B/F. The first B/M is seen in video surveillance wearing khaki shorts and a gold multi-pattern shirt. The B/F is directly behind him wearing black pants and black and white tank top. The third offender is a B/M with the B/F, wearing white shirt. All exited the store and got into the same vehicle and drove away. The vehicle appears to be a white or silver, possibly Suzuki Forenza.

Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred on Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 at 6305 Residence Inn Road (Residence Inn) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim was staying at this address temporarily while working on Redstone Arsenal. During this time, the victim opened an account at Redstone Federal Credit Union. They sent him his new ATM card and Pin number in the mail. He never received the mail and someone began using his card. The offender is seen on video surveillance using the victim’s card at 3501 North Memorial Parkway (Redstone Federal Credit Union) here in town. He is described as a B/M, wearing dark glasses, with a thin mustache.

Armed Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 at 7985 Hwy 72 in Madison (Advance America Cash Advance). According to Madison Police, the offender entered the business brandishing a light colored semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. Once the offender got the money he left the store in an unknown direction. The offender was described as a W/M, in his early to mid 20’s, approximately 5’9” to 6’ in height, wearing a dark blue button up long-sleeve shirt and khaki colored pants. Theft by Deception

Our Crime for this week occurred on Thursday, October 11th 2007 at 4009 University Drive (Citizens Bank) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the bank and presented a forged check in the amount of $4,800 dollars. After the check was cashed, the offender left the bank area on foot. The offender, seen on video surveillance, was described as a W/M, 5’9” to 6’ in height, weighing around 170 lbs, with blonde hair, wearing jeans and long-sleeve blue shirt.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007 at 4298 University Drive (Liberty 2000) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the store and asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes. At this point, the offender pulled a black revolver and demanded cash from the clerk. After the clerk handed the money from the register over to the offender, he fled the store. The offender is seen on video surveillance, he is described as a W/M, brown hair, with a brown mustache. He appeared to be 30-35 years of age, approximately 6’ in height, weighing around 200 pounds. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans.

Sexual Assault

Our Crime for this week occurred on Wednesday, September 19th, 2007 at the intersection of Bermuda Road and Azalea Road here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim was walking down the street at approximately 7:30 p.m. Around 8:10, she heard a vehicle approaching her. Moments later, she heard a car door shut and turned to see an offender running towards her. At this time, the offender grabbed her and starting groping her and speaking in her ear. After struggling with the offender for a minute or two, she stabbed the offender with a “throwing star” in the left bicep area and the upper thigh/side area. At this point, the offender released her and ran back to his car and left the area. The offender was described as a W/M, slender build in his mid 20’s, around 5’10” to 6’ in height with very short dark hair. He was possibly driving a 1992-1995 Gold Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Unlawful B&E to Auto/Theft of Property

Our Our Crime for this week occurred on Monday, October 15th 2007 at 5850 University Drive (Best Buy) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim had reported her vehicle had been broken into at her residence in Madison. After the offender obtained her credit card, they apparently drove to Huntsville and attempted to buy almost $2,000 in computer equipment. After store personnel asked for identification, she immediately left the store. The offender was seen on store surveillance. She is described as a W/F, approximately 5’2” to 5’4” in height, weighing around 115 lbs. She is seen wearing blue jeans and a bluish-green shirt with her hair pulled back into a pony-tail.

Theft of Property/Fraudulent Use of Credit Card

Our Crime for this week occurred on Friday, October 12th, 2008 at 7830 Highway 72 West in Madison (Wal-Mart). According to Madison Police, the offender entered the store and purchased a 32” television and a movie with a credit card stolen earlier in the day from a patron at Publix. The offender is seen on store surveillance exiting electronics with the items and walking quickly from the store. He is a W/M, wearing tan overalls and a ball cap.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, November 4th, 2007 at 6140 University Drive (Wal-Mart) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim was placing groceries into her vehicle after exiting the store. At this time, a vehicle struck her shopping cart causing her to fall to the ground. At this point, the offender jumped from the vehicle taking her purse. The offenders were described as a light skinned, B/F and a B/M. They were seen speeding away in a white mini van. The next day, the offenders were seen on video surveillance at a local building supply store using stolen checks from the victim of the robbery.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Friday, October 19th, 2007 at 2701 Patton Road (JC’ Beauty Supply) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the business and acted as if he was purchasing a hair brush. When the clerk started to ring up the charge, the offender produced a small revolver and demanded the money. The clerk then stepped away from the register. The offender attempted to open the register by pushing the buttons to no avail. He then ran from the business. The offender was seen on store surveillance. He is described as a B/M, slender build, wearing long black shorts and a white-shirt.

Burglary

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, October 28th 2007 at 4964 North Memorial Parkway (Chevron) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender came into the store and walked directly to the back. At this point, he pryed open the door to the office and started rummaging through the desk. He took over $300 in cash and immediately left the store. The offender is seen on store surveillance. He is described as a B/M, around 5’9” weighing approximately 200 pounds. He is wearing a green “Mossy Oak” pullover and jeans. He left the area driving a large vehicle with a gold left front fender.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 at 4880 University Drive (Country Inn & Suites) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the business and brandished a black handgun. He then demanded the clerk to “give me the money from both registers”. After getting the cash, the offender left the area on foot. The offender is seen on video surveillance from the hotel lobby. He was described as a B/M, 5’8” to 5’10” in height, weighing around 140 lbs. He appeared to be 18 to 22 years of age. He was wearing a gray jacket with “Los Angeles” in a half-moon design in the center of the back. A white “Lakers” logo was on the front of the jacket.

Unlawful B&E to Auto/Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, December 23rd 2007 at 1297 Slaughter Road (The Church of Latter Day Saints) in Madison County. According to Madison County Sheriffs’ Investigators the victim parked her vehicle and entered the church. As she exited the church, her drivers door window had been busted and her purse had been taken. Minutes later, an offender was using her credit card at a local store. The offender was seen on store surveillance. He appears to be a W/M, wearing jeans, brown jacket and green ballcap.

Fraudulent Use of Credit Card

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, November 4th, 2007 at 2200 Sparkman Drive (Wal-Mart) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the store and used a stolen credit card to make purchases. Minutes later, the same stolen credit card was being used at the Wal-Mart at 6140 University Drive. Store surveillance shows a W/F using the credit card at the Sparkman Drive location. A B/M is seen using the card at the University Drive location. The W/F is seen talking with the B/M at the University Drive store.

Robbery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, September 29th 2007 at 2199 University Drive (Subway) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the business and waited for the cash register to open. At this time, the offender pulled a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the money. The offender drops the weapon at this time nearly striking another patron and immediately picks it back up. Once the money is handed to him, he runs from the store saying, “I’m sorry, I have to pay bills”. The suspect was seen on store surveillance. He is described as a B/M, wearing a white tank top shirt, long jean shorts and a black ball cap. He appears to be 17-23 years of age, approximately 5’6” in height, weighing around 140 lbs. The victim also advised he had a hollow, tear-drop tattoo underneath his left eye. Police investigators would also like to speak to the B/M standing next to the offender during the robbery.

Theft of Property

Our Crime for this week occurred on Wednesday, September 5th 2007 at 301 Sparkman Drive (UAH Fitness Center) here in town. According to UAH Investigators, the offender entered the men’s locker room forcing open several secured lockers taking cash and credit cards. The credit cards were used at various locations here in town and also in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Other thefts of this nature were reported at the fitness center on July 18th 2007 and November 2nd 2007. A suspect was seen on video surveillance at a local conveinence store using the stolen credit card. He is described as a B/M, wearing a Harlem jersey and a ballcap on backwards. Forgery

Our Crime for this week occurred on Tuesday, October 16th 2007 at 2599 Sparkman Drive (Shell Food-Mart) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim had lost her wallet while at the UAH library. Later in the day, the offender was seen on video surveillance at the store attempting to cash checks stolen from the victims wallet and attempting to use her drivers license as ID. The offender appears to be a W/F, wearing a sleeveless t-shirt and a black “SOX” baseball cap.

Burglary/Theft

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, May 5th, 2007 at 1570 The Boardwalk (Mac Resource) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender threw a rock through the front door to gain access to the store. Once inside, the offender immediately went inside and exited the store with 2 IMAC computers. The offender was seen on video surveillance with the stolen computers as he exits the store. He is described as a B/M, around 5’8” in height, weighing around 150 lbs. He is wearing a gray t-shirt.

Leaving the Scene of Accident w/Injuries

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, June 23rd at 2222 Jordan Lane, Apt. C here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offending vehicle (2007 Maroon Ford Focus) entered the apartment from the parking lot, pinning a young victim underneath. The vehicle then backed out of the apartment and left the area, northbound on Jordan Lane. The driver of the vehicle was described as a B/M in his 20’s. The vehicle also had a young, teenage passenger that started screaming at the driver, “What have you done, let’s get out of here

Burglary

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, May 20th 2007 at 8263 Madison Blvd, Madison, Alabama. (Genesis Construction). According to Madison Police, the site has been burglarized on several occasions. On this date, the offender is seen exiting his white vehicle and trying to gain access to the building while video surveillance is in place. The offender is described as a W/M, wearing jeans and a white shirt and ball cap.

Death Investigation

Our Crime for this week occurred on or around October 25th, 2006 in the area of the Tennessee River and Spring Creek in the Courtland, Alabama area. The body of a W/F, Latauna Rena Jackson Tipton, was found floating in the river at this location. She was found wearing no clothing except a sock and some jewelry. The cause and manner of death at this time is “Undetermined


Robbery; 1st Degree

Our Crime for this week occurred on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 at 5004 Whitesburg Drive (Minute Man/Shell Mart) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, 2 Hispanic males entered the store to purchase a bottle of Gatorade. At this time, one of the offenders brandished a handgun demanding money. After getting the money from the register, he stuffed it down the front of his trousers and both offenders left the store. The descriptions also fit the offenders that robbed the High-Tech station at 8000 South Parkway, and the Conoco/Circle C station at 7546 South Parkway recently. The offenders were seen on store surveillance with one being 20-25 years of age, around 5’5”, weighing around 140 lbs. The second offender appeared to be 20-25 years of age, around 5’2”, weighing approximately 200 lbs.

Robbery; 1st Degree

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, May 12th 2007 at 30664 Highway 72 West (Dollar General Store) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the offender entered the store and wrapped a dark shirt around his face and head. He then ordered the clerk to give him the money or “I will shoot you”. The clerk put the money in a bag and the offender ran from the store. The offender was seen on video surveillance and described as a B/M, approximately 6’ to 6’3”, weighing around 190 lbs. He was wearing long black shorts and a white t-shirt, black ball cap, and black high-top sneakers.

Theft of Property
Fradulent Use of Credit Card

Our Crime for this week occurred on Monday, April 16th, 2007 at 101 Sivley Road (Huntsville Hospital) here in town. According to Huntsville Police, the victim was approached by the offender and sat down to talk with her. Once seated, the offender grabbed the victims’ wallet from her purse and ran from the hospital. Shortly after leaving the hospital, the offender is seen on video surveillance at a local R.F.C.U. trying to use the victim’s credit card. The offender was described as a W/F, around 5’2” in height, wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt.

Criminal Mischief

Our Crime for this week occurred on Saturday, December 30th, 2006 in the area of Audubon Lane, Whistler Lane, and Featherstone Lane. During the early morning hours, someone set fire deliberately to several cable boxes and bushes surrounding them, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage. One homeowner looked down the street and noticed a tan or champagne colored, 4-door car, occupied by a W/M, approximately 19 to 21 years of age, watching him put out the fire. As the fire was being put out, the W/M drove by in the car.

Hit and Run

Our Crime for this week occurred in the evening hours of Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 here in Huntsville. According to Police Investigators, the victim, Jerry Vanvoorhis was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the parkway between Oakwood Ave. and Arcadia Circle. The victim died of his injuries. The vehicle continued and left the scene. A mirror from the offenders vehicle was left at the scene. Investigators have determined the vehicle to be a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, red or maroon in color. It should be between the years of 1996-1999. The vehicle should have had damage to the front/passenger side.
